Giving children affected by HIV/AIDS a reason to smile too
danceaid funds a multitude of projects which make a phenomenal difference to the lives of innocent AIDS orphans in sub-Saharan Africa, where 1 in 5 people are living with HIV, and dying prematurely of AIDS. This silent virus leaves children without parents and vulnerable to hunger, homelessness, sickness, and abuse. danceaid funds provide safe-havens, nutritious meals, counselling, clothing, educational supplies, access to healthcare, and sporting opportunities. Thanks to your donations, our programmes feed, educate, equip and inspire hundreds of suffering children, enabling them to access opportunities that would otherwise be unknown to them.
Welcome to the world of Momo!
We stay with her when we visit danceaid projects in rural South Africa …
Momo helps carry in the extra supplies for the danceaid dancers’ breakfasts!
Momo helps make the beds! She is super excited to share her house with the danceaid dancers!
Momo celebrates a drum full of rain water collected for washing, bathing and cooking.
Now she can wash her clothes with her neighbour and put on her favourite outfit for the arrival of her guests!
…and enjoy bathtime bubbles!
Momo helps her dad make chicken for dinner with the dancers.
While her mum prepares rice for the dancers.
They’ve arrived. Let the games begin!
…and plaiting-a-plenty! Momo has never touched hair like this before, she even wants to do the boys’ hair!
Now you’ve met little Momo and her family who welcome us into their home, it’s time to visit just a few of danceaid’s projects in rural South Africa …
danceaid’s pre-school for tiny tots aged 3-6 affected by HIV/AIDS;
Porridge for breakfast all thanks to danceaid donations, yum!
At this age it is so important to learn through play and your donations mean these children have enough toys, books, paper, and pens to keep them occupied, interested and learning colours, numbers, patterns, objects, games, and stories, many in their own local languages AND in English too!
Your donations enable project leaders on the ground to take the children on trips to specialist clinics and hospitals, to local festivals and celebrations, and for fun days out to Kruger safari park!
We know you guys love dancing to make a difference to these wonderful children. They love to dance too and it’s such a fab way for them to shake of the stress of their tough lives, have fun, and stay fit and healthy too.
Can you see the little ones crouched down outside? They are washing their hands ready for a nutritious meal of pap and cabbage, all thanks to you and your support for danceaid charity. Mmm it smells delicious and they gulp it down in seconds! To past, present, and future donors, thank you for helping these tiny tots grow into happy, healthy children almost ready for school!
danceaid’s drop-in centre for school children & families affected by HIV/AIDS;
Some of the danceaid dreamteam visiting danceaid’s drop-in centre for AIDS orphans and their families to play games before dishing up a hot meal.
As well as providing food and cooking utensils, your donations provide many of our projects across Africa and Asia with basic fuel to cook. For many of the children supported by these projects, this may be the only hot meal they receive that day.
danceaid founder Laura teaches the children how to play Ninja! A game she learned from friends in the Camy Clothing crew! The game became a quick favourite and by the end of the danceaid visit, we saw children playing it across the community! Thanks Bly!
We had a brilliant time dancing with the children, and the entire team of care-givers came to shake a leg with us too! It was a joyous celebration of how teamwork really does make the dream work.
The danceaid dreamteam who provide support, counselling, games, help with homework, and home-based medical care to AIDS orphans and their families – these are the real heroes – but it’s thanks to YOUR donations that they can carry out their vital work.
These children endure so much trauma and suffering that we thought it would be nice to just let them be kids again, forget their troubles and just jump for joy!
We couldn’t spoil them like this if it wasn’t for you buying danceaid t-shirts, wristbands, hats, medal hangers; THANK YOU!
danceaid’s shining football stars;
danceaid funds a football program for 100 disadvantaged boys aged 10 to 21 that runs after school and at weekends with 3 teams; under 13s, under 15s, and a senior team. Sponsorship money raised by #TeamDanceaid’s sporting endeavours throughout the year provide footballs, football boots, registration fees for players, transport to away games, and a nutritious meal at each pre-game ‘camp’ (sleepover) ahead of weekend games. Very excitingly, since danceaid discovered and developed this local program, one of it’s players was promoted to South Africa’s equivalent of the Premiership!
Here is the head coach explaining what danceaid donations do to boost the health, fitness, mentality and life-chances of 100 boys and their wider community;
Caramel Soldier spearheads a new project to make a house a home;
We have developed an exclusive ‘Pieces of House’ t-shirt with danceaid patron Caramel Soldier to make a house a home for hundreds of children affected by HIV/AIDS across rural South Africa. Are you dressed to make a difference yet? If not, nab yourself some of our #FeelGoodFashion today @ www.danceaid.org/shop
The power is in your hands …
Please keep giving so we can turn suffering to smiles for even more children affected by HIV/AIDS across Africa. We have the power to make their futures so much brighter than their pasts.
