schools
Every child has the right to an education which develops their personality, talents and abilities to the full. Children in the UK have this right – but they can help and learn more about children around the world who are denied this right by fundraising for danceaid.
danceaid days
These days are designed in part to get kids laughing and having fun while exercising in a non-competitive environment. At the same time we incorporate lessons on nutrition, good posture at desk and some simple exercise to keep them fit and flexible.
The days also include information on the different challenges that children elsewhere in the world face, with an emphasis on positive action to help change the lives of children in developing countries as well as demonstrating how motivation and taking positive action can change their lives as well.
hold your own event
Show off and put on a performance. Charge parents and staff for tickets to the event, then show off again about how much money your raised. There are plenty of ways to show off your school’s talents. We would always recommend putting on a dance show as it can be so much fun for everyone involved (but we are a little biased to dance) and you could charge parents and staff to attend your Christmas play, or summer annual sports day too. Or you could hold your own X-Factor or karaoke competition. Put on a school talent contest
Or you could even hold a special assembly about an element of our work, such as children’s rights, health and nutrition or poverty in other parts of the world – and then charge for entry.
other ideas
There are lots of other ways of raising money too. Your students could get sponsored to give up one of your favourite things! Maybe the whole school could give up sweets for a day and donate the money they would have spent to danceaid instead – this is also a great way of promoting the nutrition side of a healthy lifestyle. You could hold a school art auction, jumble sale, make jewellery, or bake cakes. Non-Uniform Days are often a popular and easy way of raising money.
